Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

Short version: Tidy Story is built to collect as little data as possible. Your kids’ names, avatars, chores, and completions never leave your device. The only data we (or our advertising partner) see comes from parents using the app with advertising enabled — and even that can be minimized. Read on for the full detail.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy covers the Tidy Story mobile application for iOS and Android (“the App”), and this marketing website at tidystory.app (“the Site”). It is designed with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in mind, and applies globally.

2. Data we do NOT collect

This information is stored locally on your device, in an on-device database. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party in Tidy Story v1.0.

3. Data we DO collect

3.1 Purchases

When you purchase Tidy Story Premium, Apple or Google (not us) process the payment. We use RevenueCat to verify receipts. The only data RevenueCat handles on our behalf is an anonymous purchase identifier, the product purchased, and the transaction status — no payment card details ever touch our systems.

3.2 Crash reports and diagnostics (opt-in)

If you opt in during onboarding, we collect crash reports and performance diagnostics via Sentry. These include device model, OS version, app version, and stack traces — but no chore, kid, or reward data. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Privacy.

3.3 Anonymous product analytics (opt-in)

If you opt in, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage events via PostHog — things like “chore created” or “reached paywall” — to understand which features parents use. No personal identifiers, no kid data, no chore titles are sent. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Privacy.

3.4 Advertising (Parent Mode, free tier only)

The free version of Tidy Story shows a small banner ad on Parent Home only — never on any screen a child uses. Ads are served by Google AdMob with the family-friendly content filter enabled. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android) and coarse device information to serve relevant ads.

On iOS, we ask your permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt before AdMob can use your advertising identifier. If you decline, ads still appear but are not personalized. Purchasing Premium removes the banner ad entirely.

See Google’s ad data disclosures: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

4. Children’s privacy (COPPA)

Tidy Story is designed for family use, with a parent as the account holder and buyer. The App is listed under the Lifestyle → Parenting category on both stores, not the Kids category. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Kids interact with Kid Mode, which stores all data locally and shows zero ads.

If you believe we have inadvertently received information about a child, please email privacy@tidystory.app and we will delete it immediately.

5. Data retention and deletion

Because your family data is stored only on your device, you control its lifetime entirely. Settings → Reset Data deletes everything. Uninstalling the App removes all local data (subject to standard OS backup behavior).

Purchase records held by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat are retained per their own retention schedules. Opt-in crash and analytics data is retained for 90 days and then deleted.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tidystory.app. Because we hold so little data about you, most such requests can be handled by uninstalling the App or resetting data in-app.

7. Third parties

The App uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
